A note from Laura:
The home base where I cultivate Yarrow Hill from is located on the traditional lands of the Lenape, Shawnee, Susquehannock, and Iroquois Nations. I would like to acknowledge the history of this land — this land which for thousands of years was inhabited, grown, and nurtured by Indigenous Peoples who practiced reciprocal relationships with it, and then were invaded, horrifically abused, and forcibly removed by my ancestral lineage of European colonizers. And this land which since that invasion has endured tremendous abuse through centuries of conscious and unconscious selfish, unsustainable practices that prioritize profit over care, or rather, consistent acts made for short-term self-preservation over long-term collective-preservation. It is through deep reflection and by the guidance of Indigenous Knowledge and wisdom that I strive to take actions that aid in restoration for this land from this traumatic history. I aim to evolve and adapt for a healthier and more resilient future by tapping into the flow of sustainable growth for the collective in this present time, which forever is rooted in compassion, honesty, respect, responsibility, diversity, interconnectedness, harmony, and love. It is an infinite pursuit. And it is the the lesson I’m learning from my main teacher, yarrow.
