Greening

A greening of the springtime weaves
up from the creek banks
and across the meadows
to reach the trunks of trees
surrounding them, and then upwards still
bursting forth from branches.
And all at once it seems
the countryside gives completely way
from the frosts and dormancy of yesterday
with a gentle sigh of relief
to this new verdant tapestry.
